Percent of married people on dating sites
For grooms, they used to be around 24.6 years old, and now they are 32.7 years old.
Over the last 50 years, the number of overall weddings has steadily declined, but that's changing now as well.
People are marrying later in life, too, a fact that may come as no surprise.
"Marriages are becoming stronger than ever, relationships happier and more committed than ever, and couples more independent and consensual in their decisions than ever," Bridebook founder Hamish Shephard said.
Americans may not be embracing the institution of marriage as they used to, but that doesn’t mean they are giving up on relationships. In a 2013 Pew Research Center survey, 88% of Americans cited love as a very important reason to get married, ahead of making a lifelong commitment (81%) and companionship (76%).
For the most part, people today view online dating positively.
About six-in-ten (59%) say that it is a good way to meet people, and 47% agree that it is easier and more efficient than other ways of meeting people.
The number of ceremonies taking place each year is rising by 2.7 percent.
